We set-on and rode the rails south to Williams Lake. We were accompanied by a group of other rail enthusiasts. Some have run their "speeders" in all states other than Hawaii. Many of the speeders are old Canadian National rail inspection cars that were "retired" and restored. Here you can see the group waiting to back out of the yard, across the bridge and onto the main line to begin the journey south. Here is a map of the first day's ride to Williams Lake.
We spent at least 2 hours each day waiting on the sidings for the real trains to
pass us by. The freight trains were comprised of mostly empty cars heading
north and cars full of wood heading south. We got a real first-hand look
at BC logging operations. Everyone was taken with the Pontiac. Here the engineer of Engine 763
prepares to take a picture of us as we start riding south on the main line in
Prince George.
